A Symphonic Journey with Renaissance

UPDATE: IndieGogo Campaign launched

Following their successful South American tour, Renaissance will be back in the Northeast United States in October and November 2017 debuting their Symphonic Journey tour. This tour will include four very special concerts;

October 26th at the Ridgefield Playhouse in Ridgefield CT
October 27th at the Keswick Theater in Glenside PA
October 28th at the Town Hall in New York City
October 29th at The Egg in Albany NY

These four shows will feature a 10-piece Chamber Orchestra: a handpicked assemblage of strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. These performances will be the first time in 40 years that Renaissance will perform on stage with a live orchestra and, in addition, 2017 marks the 48th year since the band’s formation and its ninth consecutive year of touring since their reactivation in 2009.

Plans are currently being made for the group to film one of these shows for an upcoming DVD release, which will follow the success of their 2015 London Union Chapel DVD. Additional tour performances without the chamber orchestra are currently being scheduled.

Renaissance leader and vocalist, Annie Haslam remarks, “the band keeps getting stronger and stronger and the addition of the chamber orchestra will be the most exciting event for the band in years. This addition of ‘live’ orchestral musicians will add an incredible dynamic to our big numbers like Mother Russia, Carpet Of The Sun and Song For All Seasons, all of which included an orchestra on the original recordings.”

Ms Haslam will be joined on stage by long time musical associate Rave Tesar on piano along with Tom Brislin on keyboards, Mark Lambert on guitars, Frank Pagano on drums and percussion, and Leo Traversa on bass.

Annie Haslam Live in Philadelphia 1997 DVD Re-Issue

From Annie Haslam:

“I am overjoyed to announce that I am releasing my 1997 ‘Live’ in Philadelphia DVD on my own label White Dove Records. The show was recorded at Sonic Studios in Philadelphia with a small intimate crowd of fans in attendance. We had so much fun and interaction with the fans and I even used my video camera (Haslam-Cam!) the whole experience was exhilarating.

My band, Rave Tesar, Davd Biglin and Joe Goldberger played flawlessly and sounding more like 6 than 3 musicians. The music we performed was a mixture of my solo work and Renaissance, each song having the audience singing along. It was a very special experience for us all.”

Renaissance Announce Worldwide Release of New Album ‘Grandine il Vento’

Grandine il VentoRenaissance are proud to announce that their new studio album Grandine il Vento is available for purchase with worldwide delivery as of June 1st  2013:

Our first studio album in thirteen years, Grandine il Vento marks a bittersweet career landmark: on November 20, 2012, we suffered a great loss in the passing of our beloved friend, composer, and guitarist Michael Dunford. Grandine il Vento was to become his swan song.

You can hear samples of the music on the digital album page (three complete tracks) or this four-song sampler medley.

We hope you will share and introduce Grandine il Vento to family and friends. Purchases will not only help keep our music alive, but will also assist Michael’s widow Clare to raise sons William and Oliver.

Most sincerely,

Annie and the boys

** The album will be available to fans in Japan through the Marquee label

New Renaissance album ‘Grandine il Vento’ track listing

Renaissance - Grandine il Vento - 2013

Vocalist Annie Haslam describes the tracks:

Symphony of Light
A tribute to the genius Leonardo Da Vinci.

Waterfall
About the rainforests in Brazil… I have been there many times and love it!

Grandine il Vento
A love song that transcends life itself.

Porcelain
About an African village and the people who live there.

Cry to the World
Our ‘World Song’ in honour of Mother Earth and all who are part of her.

Air of Drama
A love song about two people who come together again later in their lives in Paris, where they had first met.

Blood Silver Like Moonlight
This is a duet with John Wetton. He has been a friend for many years and I always felt our voices were similar in their timbre and range. I was told once by a ‘spiritual’ energy friend that John and I sang in the Angels choir together. That is what this song is about. Remembering the choir!

The Mystic and The Muse
I was inspired to write this by two of my paintings The Mystic and The Muse. Although it is a fantasy in a way, I see Michael as The Muse and me as The Mystic.
